The Last Narco Inside the Hunt for El Chapo the World Most Wanted Drug Lord Malcolm Beith 9780802145482 Books Reviews

  • Gives you a close look into the operations. How things work. How complicated the situation is. But the fact is the demand fuels the production and crime comes along. I read many of the books of this kind. It is a good one to add to your collection and to enrich your knowledge about the world. If you are a parent, you also should read it. It will be helpful to understand how drugs get to the kids and how easy it could be for them to get it. It will also help you understand the risk you are taking when deciding where to go for a vacation and how likely is to be caught in a cross fire of two gangs batling for the teritory. Night clubs in these kind of countries are full of those who sell the drugs. Next time you hear a word "party" from your kid, that needs to ring a very loud bell in your head. Talk to them, show them the documentaries about how drugs can ruin lives, ask them to read these kind of books in addition to going to school, of course. They need to be informed.
  • Now that El Chapo has been caught (for a 2nd time), there will no doubt be some people who come to looking for a book about him and the cartels in Mexico. Beth's book is a good lightweight introduction to a very complex issue. Crucial history is touched on throughout the entire book, but unfortunately - due to the deaths of so many journalists and people on the right side of the law, it addition to folklore surrounding narcos - there is so little accurate information to build a completely comprehensive account. The 3-Star rating pertains more to the fact that I've read several books about this topic prior to undertaking "The Last Narco." If you have never read a book about the cartels in Mexico, this might be a 4-Star or 5-Star to you.
  • It's impossible to follow current events without hearing about the violence carried out by Mexican drug cartels, but info on the cartels themselves can be (understandably) tough to come by. The Last Narco represents a massively useful, hopelessly compulsive page-turner; it's impossible to read without learning a whole lot.
  • El Chapo is a very intriguing person. He is a friend to his people and they seem to stand behind him, but the question is - how do they explain the violence and loss of lives? Being in Mazatlan on the day El Chapo was captured, makes his story all the more interesting.
  • Very good book! Thoroughly enjoyed this book! Highly recommend this book! LOVED!!!! A+A+A+
  • great book and informational
  • Good research to make conclusions and lay out some of our current problems with drugs and the border.
Sure makes you glad that you live in the United States, but we are more of the problem than than the solution.
  • Great gift!
